Benefits of smaller states in India

With the birth of the new 29th state of the country Telangana, dozens other such demands started resurfacing. Though the decisions regarding the formation of new states is always marred with the accusation to serving for political agenda of ruling party but observations and experiences revealed that smaller states are beneficial for the people of the state.

The government in smaller states are in better reach of the people. The access to the government machinery like High Court & Secretariat become easier. Localized issues are attended to, which generally are not given so much of importance the in the bigger state. Administration can be express responsive. The state can concentrate on the forte they wanted to, for the growth and development of the state. People re more connected to the democracy as their issues are directly taken up or they can pull down the government in the next election for that reason.

As far as Indian states are concerned
