The murder of Nido Taniam - How different are we from animals?
The death of Arunachal Pradesh student in New Delhi reminded
me about an episode shown on Discovery channel. The episode revealed the nature
of gang formation in Chimpanzees. They are paranoid and do not accept any other
chimpanzee in their area. It was shown graphically how one such gang targeted a
lone and strayed chimp in their area. The gang assaulted the lone chimp brutally
and ultimately killed him.
We, beings of reasoning, are no different. We are also paranoid
and targets those who do not belong to our gangs. All “Kashmiris’ in so called
main land India are seen as ‘Terrorists’, all north-eastern as ‘Chinkis’, all
Bihari and UP migrants as ‘Bhaiyas’, all south Indians as ‘Anna’ or ‘Madrasi”. Most
often we do not leave chances to assault each other verbally and sometimes as gravely
as in the case of Nido Taniam.
Though I am neither from Arunachal Pradesh nor from Delhi but the treatment my fellow Indian receives in India for being different made me ashamed.
