Taller & bigger statues - Tactic to divert attention

In ancient times to divert the attention of the rebellious & miserable subject kingdoms organized games. So magnificent were these games that everyone wanted to be witnessed of the biggest extravaganza on Earth. So mesmerized with awe that they forget their misery and demand nothing from the kingdom. The kingdom turned safe.

Now come to the present time. We have the government playing the same game. They wanted to create statue, monument, bigger and taller, the reason remain the same - to divert the attention of the people from the work that were important and obligation of the government when in power but was not done. Gujarat government announces to build a statue tallest in the world, with the contribution of the people, allowing them to be a part of the pride of the country. It also started intensive marketing for it including advertisement on Facebook, a social media site. Maharashtra government took the clue and announces to build a structure even taller and, what a co incidence, just before elections due in October this year. This is nothing but a diversion by governments of our country.

The things that matters for the people of this country are water, electricity, law and order, transport, growth and development. Any political must be judged on these basis. People today are more learned, informed and aware. Diversions will not work now.
