Our inability to learn form experience : Bandra - Dehradun Express fire accident

Indian Railways is the most convenient and budget friendly mode of transportation for majority of India. Death of 9 passengers in Bandra - Dehradun Express, in an avoidable unfortunate incident, exposed that Railways’ basic safety measures were not in place. This is in-spite of the fact that such incident took place just a few days ago in another train. Unfortunately we are not wise enough to learn and apply our experiences. With the reputation of one of the largest network in the world and commercial utility employer, we are unable to ensure the basic safety to the passengers.

Railways serves and connects India, this mode of transportation should be made most secure. Accidents causing by fire or other human error must come to a naught. Installation of fire alarms & security cameras, availability fire extinguishers at each compartment and mode to communicate with driver and guard by passengers should be made compulsory security measure for any train.
