Sling shot the funding for research & development
The last injection in the mother of all sling shots for Mars
orbiter ‘Mangalyaan’ is a big achievement for Indian Space Organization. The orbiter,
on its way to the Mars, has to go through many maneuvers. Every maneuver is
crucial as the success or failure of the whole mission depends on the success
or failure of each maneuver. Therefore the success of any maneuver is well received
by the scientific fraternity as well as from the people who are very enthusiast
for the country’s big leap into the space programmes. Reason to cheer but still
we have to wait till 24th September 2014 when the orbiter will enter into Mars.
CNR Rao’s call for more induction in the funds from the Government
for research in science and technology is completely in sync with the reality
that India has rich pool of talent and learned and they are running the
organizations across the globe. So there is no reason why can’t be done at home
provided the facilities and infrastructure in place. Mars orbiter attracted
attention from the world for been on the launch pad in short notice and on a
tight budget has already won admiration. It’s time that Government should chalk
out the concrete policy for the funding of the research centers in the country
and sling shot the inventions.
