Great Business by Mediocre Films - Time To Create World Class Cinema

Dhoom 3 broke the record of Chennai Express for fastest collection of Rs. 100 Crore and is all set to create new records in the coming weeks. The figures are good for business calculations but as far as creating world class movies are concerned we are still lagging behind. Shekhar Kapoor’s comment for film makers to leave mediocre productions and create world class cinema is very relevant. Films like Chennai Express and Dhoom 3 might create records of multi crore business but as far as class is concerned these are mediocre films. Our films revolve round heroes and not actors, stories are created to fit according to the reputation of our heroes and not according to the demand of script.

Indian film industry has all the potentials to create world class cinema. Some of our films are even source of inspiration for the filmmakers around the world. Its time for film makers and production houses to rise above the mediocrity and create for which the cinema is known and make movies  for the audience of the worlds , no matter what language they speak and which part of the globe they resides in.
