A case of sexual offender employer

After the Tejpal incident surfaced, once again the question that already did several rounds without getting resolved shows up. Are the laws for sexual crime against women at workplace sufficient to act as deterrent for the perpetuators?

We at this point are not talking about the women getting harassed the hand of their colleagues, but by their employers. Employers have influence over their employees for obvious reasons. Then it is very much possible that little advances undergo unobjected. This bolsters the confidence of the employer which eventually results in grave sexual offence.

Two measures are very important in this regard. Women should not let go smallest of the advancement go unobjected. Once the employer has an idea of the stand of the women, they will think again before getting further. Second, we have laws in place for the offenders. The pressing need of the hour is that the judgment should not be dragged too long that it become a punishment for the victim and get into oblivion from the public memory. Judgments should serve the dual purpose – justice done to the victim & serve as an example for the society. After all how the nation treats its women, old and children is the index of the consciousness of the nation.
