One hour at a garbage bin
These are the pictures of the man who earn his living by collecting the plastic waste from the garbage bins.He earn 50-150 rupees daily. His income depends upon the amount of the collection. On this particular day he was happy as he was able to collect a lot of stuff."There must be a marriage party last night",he said.So in a single go he was able to get a lot of collection."I don't have to go to other garbage bins today",he seems pretty happy.Cold drink bottles, plastic cups-plates,poly bags all were getting picked one by one from the deep of the bin.
He is earning his livelihood from the same business for over 12 years .He assured me that the bulls and cows were not going to hurt me as I was taking pictures. After all he knew them for the last 12 years. He was moving very freely among them. The horns of the beasts are pointed and large enough to send the chilling sensation down the spine in anyone in the close proximity. But his free movement reflects a sign of the close relationship they enjoyed for more than a decade. They were familiar and comfortable with one other's presence. They were doing their business quietly and without disturbing one another. There is no conflict as there is clear division of the interest of the business among them.Man wanted the plastic stuff and not the food, animals wanted the food and not the plastic stuff. These garbage bins are a point where representatives of two different species share a common space for a common struggle.Struggle to keep oneself alive.
